Summer Reading Lists
RBUSD encourages its students to read, read, and read some more over the summer break! Summer reading is crucial to a student’s ability to not only retain information learned the previous year, but also to grow in knowledge and critical thinking skills for the upcoming school year. Research shows that a failure to engage in continued learning over the summer months can result in the ‘summer slide’, or the loss of up to two months of learning. Similar to a muscle, if you don’t use it, you lose it. In order to strengthen literacy skills and prevent literacy loss, we encourage families to make time to read on a daily basis.
