Nondiscrimination Statement

 

The Redondo Beach Unified School District (RBUSD), including the Board of Education, desires to provide a safe school environment that allows all students equal access and opportunities in the district's academic, extracurricular, and other educational support programs, services, and activities. The RBUSD prohibits, at any district school or school activity, unlawful discrimination, including discriminatory harassment, intimidation, and bullying, targeted at any student by anyone, based on the student's actual or perceived race, color, ancestry, national origin, nationality, ethnicity, ethnic group identification, age, religion, marital, family, or parental status, physical or mental disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or gender expression or association with a person or group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics.

Sexual Harassment
 
The Governing Board prohibits sexual harassment of any student by any District employee, student or other person. Board Policy 5145.7, Sexual Harassment (Education Code 212.6), Senate Bill 1375.

The Redondo Beach Unified School District is committed to an educational environment in which all children are treated with respect and dignity. Each child has the right to learn in an environment that promotes equal educational opportunity and is free from discriminatory practices. Sexual Harassment is a violation of Title IX of the Education Act Amendments of 1972, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the California Education Code Sections 210 through 214, inclusive.

The District strongly condemns, opposes and prohibits sexual harassment of students whether verbal, written or physical by ANYONE in or from the District. In addition, Title IX protects transgender students and students who do not conform to sex stereotypes. The Board shall not tolerate the sexual harassment of any student by any other student or any District employee. State law also prohibits discrimination based on gender (sex), gender identity, and sexual orientation. Any student or staff who is found guilty of sexual harassment shall be subject to disciplinary action.
