General Aquatic Center Information

About the Redondo Union High School Aquatic Center
 
The RUHS Aquatic Center is an outdoor 15-lane, 25-yard pool with covered bleacher seating for 200 spectators. Built for the RUHS Seahawk Swim and Water Polo Teams and opened in the Fall of 2010, this pool is also open to the public on the weekends year-round.
 
The shallow end has both stair and ramp access with one lane from 3’6” to 4'6" deep, one lane from 4’6” to 7' deep, and the remaining 13 lanes are all 7’ deep. The pool's nearly half a million gallons of water are heated to 80 F year-round.

Getting to the Pool
 
The public entrance to the pool is accessed from the Vincent Street side of Campus (not the main school entrance on the Diamond Avenue side of Campus). Parking is available in the softball parking lot Adjacent to the Softball field. Enter near the intersection of Vincent Street and El Redondo Ave. Please use the following address for the parking lot entrance: 499 El Redondo Ave, RB, CA 90278 (click the link to be directed to google maps)
Q: How many laps to swim a mile? 
A: A swimmer's mile is 1650yds, which is the equivalent of 66 lengths in our pool. A true mile is 1760 yards, which is a little more than 70 lengths in our pool.

Q: Do you have a lost and Found?
A: Yes. If you think you may have left something during a swim, please check with one of the lifeguards during your next swim or contact us directly . Please keep in mind we do our best to pick up items that are left behind, and we are not responsible for lost or stolen items. All items not claimed are donated at the end of every month.
Are you interested in joining our staff? 
 
We hire responsible, positive, hardworking candidates to fill two types of position:
 
Aquatics Lifeguard: 
  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Certified Lifeguard / CPR / AED / First Aid
 
Lifeguard / Swim Instructor: 
  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Certified Lifeguard / CPR / AED / First Aid
  • Certified Water Safety Instructor
