RBUSD Parent Education Opportunities

Today, students face many challenges—schoolwork, friendships, and even stress or mental health worries. Parents play a vital role in helping their children succeed. A parent education series provides families with the information and tools they need to support their children’s learning and well-being from elementary school through high school. This kind of program is built on research and focuses on the whole child. It also helps schools and families work together so that all students can do their best.

The Why

  • Helping Students Through Family Involvement: Research shows that when parents are involved, students do better in school, behave more positively, and feel healthier. If schools want students to grow, parents need to be part of the plan.

  • Responding to Mental Health Needs: Across the country, more students are struggling with anxiety, sadness, or behavior problems. Parents often notice these signs first, but may not know how to respond. Parent education can teach families what’s normal and when to ask for help from the school.

  • Guiding Families Through Complex Systems: School systems can be confusing, especially for busy parents, families who speak more than one language, or those new to programs like IEPs, 504 plans, or college planning. Parent education makes these systems easier to understand, so families feel confident supporting their children.
