What is happening to the Franklin School campus?

FRANKLIN SCHOOL SITE ABATEMENT & DEMOLITION
 
The plans for what will become the Friendship Campus have been 4+ years in the
making. The time has come to demolish the Franklin Elementary site. We have been
working closely with RBUSD regarding all steps leading up to this point.

Construction fencing will be erected starting Thursday, June 23rd

As do most old buildings, there are structures within the school site that contain
hazardous material. The removal of such is a highly regulated process with multiple
layers of oversite to ensure the safety of the surrounding area, as well as the workers.

Hazard mitigation and removal begins Monday, June 27th

As abatement is completed on each building, the demolition process will begin. In some
cases, it will overlap. We apologize in advance for the dust and the noise and to do our
best to minimize the impact, while building a beautiful building in your neighborhood.
 
  • Estimated Work Timeline
    o Fencing starting Thursday 6/23/2022
    o Abatement/Demo start the week of 6/27/2022
    o Abatement/Demo completion by Friday 8/5/2022
    o Construction commencement date, TBD
Groundbreaking Ceremony – August 10th

Please join us at the Groundbreaking Ceremony on August 10th at 5 pm and then
the Summer Community Festival in Franklin Park from 6-8 pm. We look forward to
seeing all neighborhood families. Enjoy food, fun, and friendship with the Friendship
Foundation families, staff & supporters
