California Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
In California, students in grades 5, 7, and 9 participate in the annual Physical Fitness Test (PFT). California uses the FITNESSGRAM®, a health-related fitness assessment designed to help students understand their physical fitness and encourage lifelong habits of regular physical activity. The Physical Fitness Test is intended to promote health and wellness, not competition. Results provide information that can help students, families, and schools better understand physical fitness and support healthy growth and development.
