Race and Equity Committee (REC)

The purpose of the Race and Equity Committee (REC) is determine how our school district will challenge and change institutional racial inequities that impact our learning community and students.  

Our initial goals for this school year are:

  • Develop a Race and Equity Committee comprised of students, parents/guardians, staff, and community members
  • Facilitate anti-racist training for all RBUSD employees
  • Create a mentorship program where teachers and administration train and develop BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) students to become educators
  • Recruit and retain more employees who represent our diverse community
 

Race and Equity Committee (REC) Community Member Selection Process/Criteria

September 1, 2020 – Letter to School Community for Interested Community Members
September 1-10, 2020 – Open for Interest Form Submissions
September 11-16, 2020 – Interest Form Review (145 Interest Forms)
September 17, 2020 – Selected Member Notification Sent

We are looking for:

  • One representative parent/guardian from each elementary school
  • Two representative parents/guardians (each) from both Adams and Parras Middle Schools
  • Four representative parents/guardians from RUHS and/or Dreizler
  • Three community members
