ATTENTION PARENTS OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS

All English Learners (EL) must be tested on the California English Language Development Test (CELDT) every year until the student is reclassified as Fluent English Proficient (RFEP). The CELDT assesses students’ English proficiency.  Students receive an individual score on four subtests:  listening, speaking, reading, and writing.  In addition, there is an overall score, which determines the student’s EL proficiency level.  Results are reported to parents and teachers. In an effort to ensure appropriate instruction and class placement and to avoid classroom disruptions, all students will be tested in all four subtests prior to the start of school.   We are asking that you help us complete this testing for your student by registering your student for testing in July.

ATENCIÓN PADRES DE LOS ALUMNOS QUE APRENDEN INGLES

Todos los estudiantes que están en proceso de aprender inglés (EL, English Learners ) deberán tomar la Prueba de Desarrollo del Idioma Inglés de California (CELDT) cada año hasta que el estudiante sea reclasificado/a como Competente en Inglés.  La prueba CELDT evalúa la aptitud de los estudiantes de hablar inglés.  Los estudiantes reciben una calificación  individual dividida en cuatro partes: escuchar, leer, hablar y escribir.  Además, una calificación total  que determina el nivel de competencia.  Los resultados son reportados a los padres y maestros.  Para asegurar una instrucción adecuada y la colocación en la clase y para evitar interrupciones en la sala, todos los estudiantes serán evaluados en las cuatro categorías antes del inicio de las clases.  Estamos pidiendo que nos ayude a que su hijo/a complete esta prueba registrándolo/a  en julio.

TO REGISTER FOR CELDT TESTING IN JULY 2013, Please follow these steps:

1. Go to http://register.asapconnected.com/ReserveAll.aspx

2. Find the grade level your child will be in during the 2013-14 school year.

3. Click the "RESERVE NOW" link on the right hand side of the page.

4. On the calendar at the bottom of the page, choose the date you would like to bring your child in for CELDT testing. Please refer to the schedule below to find which grade level will be testing on which date.

5. Find a time that is listed as "Available" and then follow the directions to fill in personal information. Please note that if you registered your child through our online system last summer, your login information will be the same. You will need to "check out" in order to finalize your registration time/date.

Para registrarse para la prueba CELDT en julio 2013, por favor siga los siguientes pasos:

1. Vaya a la página http://register.asapconnected.com/ReserveAll.aspx
2. Escója el grado que su hijo/a estará durante el año escolar 2013-14.
3. Seleccione "RESERVE NOW" en el lado derecho de la página.
4. En el calendario que se encuentra abajo de la página, escoja la fecha que le guataría traer a su hijo/a para que tome la prueba CELDT. Por favor vea al horario incluído abajo, para encontrar que grado tomará la prueba en que día
5. Encuentre la hora que este en la lista como "Available" (disponible) y siga los pasos para lleñar la información personal. Por favor note que si usted ya registró a su hijo/a por medio de nuestro sistema de internet el verano pasado, su informacion de login será la misma. Usted tendrá que "Check Out" para finalizar su registro por internet.
